Lightbulb What should I do with Ubuntu?

I have recently made the switch from Windows to Ubuntu and I really like it! I was just wondering if there was anything that I should definitely do now that I have Ubuntu, any programs that you would recommend that I get and learn to use, should I take up programing? Anything that can boost my Ubuntu experience?
    Thanks in advance!

What would you LIKE to do? What did you do the most with Windows?
Programming is an option - though many of the languages are platform independent . I have too many toys - the LAMP server is lonely because the Beaglebone Black (with Ubuntu version) is the newest toy. Hard to imagine getting excited about turning on LED's and reading switches, but it's fun for me.
Your interests may lay along a different line.

Command line experience should be on your To-Do list, though...

I'm also new to the Ubuntu ways, and command line operation is on my learning list.

I'm definitely going to learn command line operations, I know a little but obviously not enough yet.

What did you do in windows? You can pretty much do the same things with Ubuntu. My computer habits havn't changed much since switching to linux years ago.

Re: What should I do with Ubuntu?

At first, i would use a lightweight Ubuntu desktop. ( you can easily install more to existing Ubuntu installation)
Here is an good article http://mylinuxexplore.blogspot.co.at...ubuntu_16.html
I use Lubuntu, needs very low RAM. Lightweight Ubuntu works on very old PCs too!

Would use Ubuntu internet surfing ( maybe 80% of your pc time?), video playing, music
Would learn about security features like Firewall, security for temp entries in fstab, apparmor usage, secure your internet browser
Would learn about automatic sofware updates, and also about commands to clean like here explained http://www.stchman.com/cleanup.html
Would learn about encryption of data (encfs and truecrypt)
Would install LibreOffice if not installed (Libreoffice also usable on Windows, so you can edit your files in Windows or Ubuntu)
    Would active use this forum

What I still do in Windows
    - I do C# programming on Windows (dont want to learn now C# forms of GTK on Linux)
    - use Canon EOS software (because no linux driver available), thee is an alternative: "Rawtherapee", but will never be so fast then original software from Canon.
    - use all special programs where no linux version exist

As a semi-newbie, myself, I would suggest using Ubuntu as much as possible and discover what it doesn't do that you would prefer it to do, i.e. cursor behavior, hibernate/suspend, various application preferences, power management, etc. Then do the research to learn how to make the changes. By doing this you'll learn a lot at once through a very hands-on approach. Also, as the others have said, learn the command line; at least on a fundamental level.
