Windows VM Full 3d graphics acceleration with i5 3570k??

    Hi everyone,

I've got a machine with an intel i5 3570k. It's currently got windows installed, but I'd like to install linux. However, I still need windows for my gaming. The 3570k has VT-x technology. I was wondering if that is sufficient for me to be able to install a windows VM in linux and get full 3d performance, or if I need VT-d support in the non "k" model of the CPU.

    Thanks in advanced

    Marcus

you won't get "full" 3D performance because there is the extra layer between your OS and the hardware. Everything i've read states to not even bother with trying to do 3d direct rendering gaming within a VM. you never really know until you try though right?
