I have installed Xubuntu 13.10 and I can't download pictures from my camera (Finepix S5800).
The same goes on another desktop I have at home with Kubuntu 13.10.
Difference between Kubuntu and Xubuntu is that with Xubuntu I can at least watch them (but it's painfully slow even with few pictures in it) with the image viewer (Ristretto).
The fdisk -l output doesn't seem to list the camera:
