Yes, I can boot to grub menu.
I don't think that the problem is the renamed boot entries, because I can still boot into Windows.
Just Ubuntu 13.10 will not boot up.
Following error appeared while booting up in recovery mode (nomodeset, avoiding root=UUID=<myUUID> and instead using root=/dev/sda7):
libahci: module verification failed: signature and/orrequired key missing - tainting kernel
For a particular reason the recovery mode hangs on "Loading initial ramdisk..." if I try to boot by uuid.
Moreover /dev/disk/by-uuid does not exist. I have only a directory called /dev/disk/by-id and this contains just 2 things my ssd (which is not named with an uuid) and something else.
Could have somthing to do with secure boot?
If I boot with above settings I'm able to access the recovery menu, but only after a while since there are many errors followed by above error.(see my dmesg output http://pastebin.com/HBQKfLKD)
My video chip is an Intel HD 4400. (This should not be the problem, I guess.)
Maybe I can try to install ubunut 13.10 with secure boot off (but this should not be relevant, since it uses the signed shimx64.efi loader if necessary).
Your supposed boot options are not working either.
