I followed the steps, blacklist, reboot, unblock and
rfkill list
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
WOW to my surprise, I plugged the stick and I am now connected with the USB antenna.
I will now reboot with the stick plugged to see what happens.
Thanks
rfkill list gives
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
3: phy2: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
they I press Fn + F5, that should switch wireless off/on, the LED remains off but now rfkill list gives
0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: yes
3: phy2: Wireless LAN

Hard blocked: no
and so again if I press Fn+F5 keys.
But no wireless.
AS told, in a moment the stick was working but it stopped working after rebooting, and no way to make it work again. This is so sad, the laptop had been working ok for a couple of years, then suddenly no more wireless.
iwconfig
wlan2 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSIDff/any
Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Power Managementff
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
then
sudo ifconfig wlan2 up
and the usb stick light turns on, but it remains on, no blinking, no network activity, and no wireless. I think I have to do something to make it connect.
Try to permanently press Fn+F5 during boot-up or, alternatively, repeatedly
