    Logitech Webcam C170

I am a first time super-noob Ubuntu user. My computer is an old one that didn't have a webcam in it already so I went and bought a Logitech webcam C170. The webcam is recognized by the computer and works in Cheese, but I can't make video calls in Skype or any other video call program. When I go to video settings in Skype, it shows that it's accessing the webcam and even gives me a little webcam preview so I can see my face. But when I try to make calls it acts like there's no webcam. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
