Going by Android, if Ubuntu takes that way, there seems to be nothing in the lines of 'help publicize Linux itself'. & is there a need for that?

Does Linux really needs to be publicized?

Looking at its history, it seems there really is no need! Why does Linux have to dominate anything?

If it doesn't have to, then why publicize, for what?

It's time for linux to be more mainstream...to offer a viable alternative to the mass computer users, like windows, mac, and now even chrome os does...Ubuntu is the only linux distro that can do it...and they are on the right track...

Ubuntu has the advantage of being one of the very few distributions that does not try to acquire new users by first changing the way people think. You can't persuade very many people to stop using Windows if they first need to go through a conversion experience and then be willing to inconvenience themselves for the sake of their new FOSS beliefs.

I think this is a pretty fair commentary from the developer of Compiz

That was a great post, especially this line:
One fallacy is to equate a project’s proponents and opponents with its developers.
