    Ml900

I have a Motorola ML900 laptop. It has Windows xp professional on it.

I have a 12.10 usb thumbdrive which was purchased and presumed good. It will not install.

I also have 12.10 and 13.10 DVD's. Neither will install. The computer when set to boot from the optical drive just states there is no bootable disk in the drive and boots from the hard drive.

Is there a way to install Ubuntu on this computer?

Have you tried the usb and the dvds in a different computer? It could be a bad burn. You can check disk integrity.

The Motorola ML900 has an Intel Pentium M 1.8 GHz CPU. Make sure you have the 32 version of Ubuntu on your live disk.

Also, some versions of the Pentium M don't support pae. By default pae is required now for Ubuntu. I think Xubuntu still comes with the non-pae kernel. But if this were the problem you should have got a different error message.

No, but Xubuntu 12.04 is long term support and does not require PAE.

Does booting Lubuntu from CD work?
