    Anyone tried the Numix theme?

For the last three releases, I've been using Greybird which is part of shimmer-themes. But I notice that there's a new theme, Numix. It's said to be a "flat" theme:
    * Numix is a modern flat theme with a combination of light and dark elements.
    Anyone tried it? Liked it?

The Numix folder has 173 items, totalling 460.2 kB whereas Greybird has 223 items, totalling 385.7 kB. That's a bit of a puzzle. I thought a "flat" theme would be "smaller" and lighter because there would be fewer shades and gradients.

Anyway, I'm going to give it a try.

    Linky?

I've found a Numix theme on Deviantart. Is that the one? The screenshots of the Numix theme on Deviantart show drop-shadows but, as you say, no gradients - no simulation of depth to the open windows - and they have nearly square corners. A bit Windows 8-like. I don't like these flat themes - I prefer the illusion of depth, even though it is only an illusion. But there again, I'm old enough to remember using Windows 3 and I had enough of flat then.

In fact I'm old enough to remember using ms-dos 3.

I'm sorry! It's part of the shimmer-themes package that ships by default with Xubuntu 13.10. So sudo apt-get install shimmer-themes will install it for those who aren't on Xubuntu. apt-cache show shimmer-themes has this in part:

Description-en: Gtk+ themes from Shimmer Project
This package contains all the desktop suites by Shimmer Project.
    .
    * Albatross, a dark and light theme that was originally designed for
Xubuntu 9.10. Albatross is designed to be smooth: no rough borders,
no contrasted edges, no violent contrasts, a soft blue colour.
    * Bluebird is the colorful successor to Albatross originally designed
for Xubuntu 10.10. Bluebird is the only way to go if you love blue!
    * Greybird is the more conservative but at the same time modern variant
    of Bluebird. Greybird contains a lot of improvements over Bluebird;
amongst other things, full GTK3 support.
    * Numix is a modern flat theme with a combination of light and dark
    elements.
    * Orion is a modern light theme for Gnome.
