    Lightdm & Desktop

Lightdm takes a long time to load to be able to login and the Desktop also takes a long time to load, anyone else experiencing this? See sig. for specs.

    Please define "Long Time".
    10 seconds?
    2 minutes?
    2 hours?
    A week?

It helps to know the ballpark area of what you consider long time.

You might try looking at the applications being launched during startup
Looky here how to easily display them in the startup applications

I don't think the startup applications have anything to do with my problem.

    Re: Lightdm & Desktop

What do the log files /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log and /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log say?

Note: You'll need root privileges to access those files. You can use, from a terminal:
    Code:
    sudo -i gedit /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log
    ...and:
    Code:
    sudo -i gedit /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log

    Re: Lightdm & Desktop

I see you're running Ubuntu 14.04. Moving to the Ubuntu+1 forum.

Since this is a very early version of 14.04, I think you should expect these sorts of issues. From looking at the x-0-greeter.log, the delays seem to be related to the indicators.

Perhaps someone who is testing 14.04 can confirm these delays and create the necessary bug reports.

    Re: Lightdm & Desktop

I am not getting a delay but I am getting a lightdm double take. That means that the login session with background will come on , fade out and then reassert itself (like a mini-boot within a boot).
