I have an Alesis DM6 detected but what's next? How do I use it with anything?

Any help using an Alesis dm6

I'm trying to use my Alesis DM6, ideally to record myself. Any idea how can do that? Thanks.

I saw it show up in something. Either a midi path editor or something similar.

    Threads Merged

Do not post duplicate threads, please. It dilutes community effort, confuses users and potential helpers, wastes time and energy, lessens your chances of getting help, and a heap of other not good things. Thanks.

You posted a second thread without having replied to jejeman's request for output in the second post of this one. You seem to have ignored it:

    Code:
    lsusb
    arecord -l
    amidi -l
If you want help, respond to helpers rather than posting another thread. If you don't understand something, ask.

Sorry about that. I just noticed. I don't know how.

All good. What is the output of those commands so people can have a shot? Can you open Ardour and see it as a usable instrument? Not sure what the DM6 is (device type, that is) ...

If you are new to UStudio you might want to do some research and read up on jack, etc.

Thanks, I will do reading. Alesis is an electronic drumset and shows up e-drum. It has a USB output and is midi. Ardour doesn't see it.

    Hopes that helps.

Basically, what programs can I use to listen and record the Alesis drum set. Thanks, Nicolas
