    Solusos closing down

Sad news, just read Ikey is stopping Solusos. I for one will be sorry to see it go.

That's too bad. Maybe someone will pick up the pieces and carry it on.

Ikey has worked very hard for oss, and acheived greatness.

I wish him well for the future, and convey many thanks.

Wow, Fuduntu, now SolusOS. Never even got to see the vaunted SolusOS v2 either.

    Re: Solusos closing down

Ikey set out to build a new interface, which takes a lot more resources than packaging a distribution of existing bits. I don't know how far along he got with that interface. But, I hope it was far enough that he might be able to finish it someday.

The Fuduntu folks -- and they weren't very many -- were done in by the complications of dealing with GTK2 in an increasingy GTK3 world. Plus, I gather they were often covering costs out of pocket.

Well... the latest (as of today) distros at distrowatch look like interesting alternatives. There's SuperX and (my favorite) Makululinux. What's not to love about a Hippo as a mascot?
