    howto convert microsoft documents for Ubuntu use

    I have a motor manual which I urgently need to read.What must i do to make ubuntu read it.
    Any help please.

    In the thread title you say 'Microsoft documents'. If these are MS Word docs (.doc or .docx), then you can use LibreOffice to read them. I can't remember if Libre is installed by default or not. If it's not, then it is easy enough to install from the Software Center.

    Yes it is default installed. Some docx files appear fine others get their formatting corrupted. It will be the luck of the draw.

    Thanks, you people are most kind.Libre Office did it. My computer just didn't give me the 'open with ' choice.

    "luck of the draw" is a bit of an exaggeration. Unless you have something with very weird formats or with a lot of embedded pictures and so on LO opens .docx usually just fine.
