How to DIRECTLY update from 11.10 to 13.10?

Without having to upgrade to 12.04 and 12.10 and 13.04?

Only LTS to LTS and sequential releases have that ability.
Easiest method is to back up and fresh install.

    Sorry.

Edit, if you are only going to update every 2 yrs. get on the LTS cycle.
For now upgrade to 12.04 then wait for 14.04, then you can wait every 2 yrs. and you are good.

I don't even upgrade on sequential releases, I always perform a fresh install, it's cleaner. Unless you're stuck for some reason (like if you've got too much stuff to back it all up, or a broken computer with no dvd drive or working usb) that's the best option, especially in this case when you're several releases back.
