Stop Steam from installing game updates
I have only 4 gigabytes of internet available each month, and I pretty well go through it all already.
The last time I bought a game for Windows it required me to register it with Steam, which then proceeded to try and download an update for it - four gigabytes worth of update - and wouldn't allow me to play the game without updating.
I just wanted to play the single-player campaign, not multi-player, but I couldn't find any way of running the game without having it update.
Is there any kind of hacky way of just running the game from the CD or hard drive without having to download a four gig update? If it makes a difference, the game is Homefront.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
