    ubuntu 13.10 john_the_ripper 1.8.0 how to use

    I have compiled the source of john_the_ripper 1.8.0 on my desktop.

    what I am trying to do is find the password for my libreoffice document file that is called brutetest.odt

    the problem I am having is that I don't know how to use john or how to find usefull info about using it

    We don't really support john the ripper her, as the package in the repositories is broken. It would be best if you went to the Backtrack Foums for support. Thread closed.
