    boot to ram

I'd like to setup my Ubuntu desktop to boot to ram, but I don't want my data to be lost at shutdown. Essinatly I just want the system in ram but read/write the files normally. If I follow this guide it says all changes will be dropped. Is there any way to achieve this?
