Unhappy Audio not working. Conflict between cards?

    Hi,

I've installed twice ubuntu 12.04.3 in a new dell xps 8700. The audio doesn't seem to work, although the card is being recognized apparently. It may be the nvidia card messing things? I've followed a number of different 'solutions' from this and other forums but nothing really worked so far.

    I uploaded the details here:

    Thanks!

So if you open the volume control (or pavucontrol) and select the Creative card, does it give test sound?

    Hi,
When I select it and press test sound in volume the bar moves (in pavucontrol) but no sound cames out.

You may have to install a newer kernel (or just use Ubuntu 13.10): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2147443
