Switching from mpich2 to openmpi (while having both installed)?

Currently, I have mpich2 installed on cluster of 5 computers which run Ubuntu 13.04.

I would like to install openmpi as well and do a bit of comparison on performance. However, how can I keep both mpich2 and openmpi on a single system? How will I able to switch from one to another?

I have no idea of the answer to your question. I am just observing that the "Absolute Beginners" forum is a total mismatch for a question dealing with clusters and high-performance computing.

Well.. sorry. I just wasn't sure where to post this.
The problem when both mpich2 and openmpi are installed at same time is that both use or link to same mpiexec and mpirun executables.

Sorry if it came across as a rebuke. Such was not my intent. Perhaps you will have better luck with an answer if you ask the moderators to move this thread to "Server Platforms".

    No, not at all.
