Creative X-Fi Xtremegamer, no sound

This card is driving me crazy ...

I have got an Creative X-Fi Xtremegamer Fatal1ty soundcard, which I want to use in Ubuntu 12.04. I connected the card with a single 3,5" cable to my speaker system (Analog 1 slot).

And I get no sound.

I unmuted the alsamixer channels, reinstalled most of the alsa packages and tried a lot of stuff. Yet it isn't working. All the google info I found is about people who have problems on ubuntu 9.0 or something. The card "should' be easy to setup in 12.04..
I disabled the onboard sound and onboard hdmi sound too. The only thing remaining is the HDMI sound from the installed Ati graphics card, and the X-Fi.

EDIT: Didn't solve it. It worked for 1 boot, then I couldn't get it to work anymore at all. It worked temporarily though ... what could it be?
