It has been a while since I've seen or used one. I can't remember how many minutes per word they work at.

I've pretty much developed a habit of manually typing the code tags, sometimes even in the advanced mode !
I do the same, I can type them faster than grabbing the mouse, etc. etc.

Because it does seem to be more about typing speed which isn't the topic as far as I can see. It is also not people who are new to the forum who are participating in this thread. That's why I'm wondering what is going on. I would have thought that a thread in "Forum help and feedback" wouldn't have the same "quality" as, say, a thread in "Recurring Discussions".

Well, the question was asked and an answer was given. Granted it is now a bit off topic, but the OP's question was answed anyhow.

That is true. But let's say I'm the person making the original post. Each time I see this thread listed with an unread post in it, I'd look to see what someone has posted. If it turns out to be just a post describing one's typing speed, I'd be disappointed. On the other hand, someone may have posted a workaround or an alternative to the actual issue.

And there really isn't any restriction to having one's own thread in a more appropriate area of the forum on typing speeds or the redundancy of buttons.

I was warned at least twice about derailing or hijacking threads so I know that such steps are possible to ensure that the quality of threads is maintained..
