I'm unsure if it will be officially supported by steam but I've seen reports online of people able to play it using Crossover/Wine.

A list of steam games on Linux can be found here.

    SteamDB Info

    Hope that helps!

If the Call of Duty series came to Linux, it would be a huge step forward in Linux gaming. However, that probably won't happen at least until the Steam Box appears.

Crysis and FarCry might be coming to Linux, though, because CryTek is/was looking for a programmer to port CryEngine to Linux last time I checked.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The Call of Duty series as far as I am aware have Activision as the distributor (much like EA is the distributor for BF series). That makes it quite unlikely to see them on Linux unfortunately.

But no one has a crystal ball, If linux shows itself as a capable gaming platform, be it through Steam, Steambox or just the good old PC, thoughts on it may change.

    I've confounded it with:

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
    Shall we get this game?

CS:GO will be on linux at some point. Valves target is to have its full catalogue available. That aim would include CS:GO, Portal2 plus any others.

Call of Duty is owned by Activision. It will be up to them and their developers (Infinity Ward/ Treyarch) to port it to Linux. CoD works on OS X which uses openGL so it's a possibility if Activision see Linux as profitable source

Anyway I'm not impressed with the currently free Call of Duty: Black Ops II multiplayer. America's army is more fun and looks better.

Linux is for scripting/programming...with the occasional Assault Cube round in between....
Mike, I'm a closed beta tester for Americas Army: Proving Grounds, and it is much better than CoD, it is worth your time, trust me.(I dual-boot with Windows 7[yuck!])
