Ubuntu 13.04 crashes when I scroll around in Google Maps

It happens in chromium or firefox. As far as I can tell, it only happens when I'm at least half-way zoomed into the map.

Same thing here. If I scroll slowly around a map it does not crash but if I pan around or zoom in too quickly the whole machine freezes (still have a pointer but nothing responds). Happens with chrome and firefox, single or multiple monitors and straight after fresh boot with nothing else running. Has happened repeatedly and is very annoying.

Intel i5 2500K @ 4x3.3GHz
8 Gb ram
On board Intel Sandybridge Graphics
