    Desktop clock

I want to add a digital clock with the date to my desktop. Also I want the clock to stay on top of everything else and the ability to move it around the desktop. I don't want to use the clock in the top panel.
    Thanks

    Have you tried with conky?
    I would try with:
    Code:
    own_window yes
own_window_transparent yes #or no depends what you want
    own_window_type normal
This will give you window around your clock which allows you to move it freely around your desktop.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A QUANTAL QUETZAL IS...BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE PRETZEL AND I LIKE PRETZEL

Conky is pretty intense if you're a beginner, but if you fancy something to get your teeth into Conkys a good choice, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpConky there are lots of things you do with conky, the forums resident Conky expert is undoubtedly VinDSL, his conky setups even litter a google imae search for VinDSL.

If you're looking for somehting a little more simple look at screenlets, just search the web for "screenlets ubuntu <version number>" and you should be okay, the setup instructions vary from release to realease hence the instruction to search yourself

If you are looking for a clock widgets Screelets are fine . Conky has a leaning curve but everyone interested in using it starts sometime.
