    No Sound in Xubuntu 11.04

Please help! I installed Xubuntu 11.04 on my 9+ year old Dell Dimension 4600i PC and it works beautifully. The only problem is, no matter what I do, the audio simply does not work. I have run through the Sound Troubleshooting Guide multiple times, but nothing has worked.

I'm very new to using Linux in general, but if anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Also, I've posted the link to the Alsa sound information of my computer:

First of all I would recommend a fresh install of 13.04. Please post again if you still have trouble with sound after that.

Re: No Sound in Xubuntu 11.04

So my first step was to install 13.04, but everytime I tried, it would install perfectly, but when I would restart it, it would only show a black screen. I installed older versions and they seemed to work just fine. 11.04 and 11.10 are very fast and zip around, but when I tried out the 12.04 LTS, it slowed down to a crawl.

When installing 13.04, it would actually run fine when I tried it before installing, but upon restarting the computer after full installation, the screen would remain black.

Have you tried boot options like NOMODESET?
