    Quality control issues

It seems like System76 has let the ball drop and there are quality control issues with newer models. What's going on here?

    Re: Quality control issues

    1) They pretend their machines are awesome. They bragged about how amazing the Galago (even the touchpad!) was before they released it. Their company does marketing, but it doesn't do honesty.

    2) System76 doesn't make the machines they sell. Clevo does. And Clevo is known for crappy keyboards, lousy speakers, cheap plastic builds, overheating, etc. But Sytem76 isn't dropping the ball here. They're just making denials and excuses because they can't fix things. Do you expect them to admit their product is horrible? Unless they actually start building their own machines, there's no way quality will ever improve.

    3) They could do better testing, but they don't. And then they blame the customer, as if *he* must have done something wrong. Wireless issues? Apple's fault. GNOME's fault. Bad hardware. Rather than just admitting they sell wireless cards that aren't supported well under Ubuntu and they actually don't have the skills to fix the driver themselves. Suspend doesn't work? "We're working on a fix" that will get there...probably in the next year or so, and may or may not actually fix the issue. BIOS settings don't work? "I'm sure we tested that before we shipped it," but obviously they didn't. HDMI doesn't work after suspend? Again, they probably didn't test it. And if they did, they make excuses for it not working. Etc, etc, etc.

It basically comes down to: They're simply not concerned about shipping a good product. They sell what they can get from Clevo, market it like crazy, and then make excuses for all of the problems, rather than actually doing something about them.

Most every OEM (Dell, Toshiba, HP etc) just uses Sager, Clevo, or Compal. That's nothing new.

Unsubstantiated opinion. If you've an issue with System76 - then the place to take it is https://www.system76.com/contact/ This forum is for support not debate.
