Ultimatefry; Hey ..
Give me a bit .. I have a Lubuntu 12.04 liveCD on hand. Let me reboot and refresh my memory ...
Ultimatefry; OK ..
Booting up the liveCD of Lubuntu ...it does have the following options:
1. Try Lubuntu without installing
2. Install Lubuntu
3. Check Disk for Defects
4. Test Memory
5. Boot from First Hard Disk
My question remains .. what results when you choose "Try Lubuntu without Installing" ???
it is all a process
up and get Install Lubuntu, , Check disk for defects, Test memory, Boot from first hard disk, and Rescue a broken system.
Ultimatefry; Hey ..
Do not know why there would be a difference in 12.04 lubuntu liveCD and 12.04 Lubuntu USB .. in any event .. we still need to verify that you are able to boot your machine with "try Lubuntu".
What results when you choose the option "try Lubuntu without Installing " ?????????
it is a process
Okay, tried running it from the desktop install version of 13.04 (not sure why I said I was using 12.04 earlier, because I wasn't), and still flashed, but the blank screen with the cursor held for longer. Nomodeset and nodmraid didn't work, either.
You mentioned initially that you had 11.10 running. Though it's a step backwards I think it would be good to reinstall this one and do some tests before proceeding.
My guess is that the problem is either SIS graphics or not enough memory.
I've been using two seperate flashdrives: one with my 11.10 on it, and the Lubuntu one.
Also, I just noticed the post on installing normal with NOMODESET, and that didn't work, either.
The post above was meant as a question. How much memory do you have and which screen card?
Is this our guy and has more memory been added?
Also it would be interesting to hear of some broader experiments and not only a brief statement of what does not work.

What do you think is the reason for 11.10 not working now if it worked a few days ago?
And so on...
