Mouseover displays in Chrome

I use both Firefox and more recently Chrome for more and more. However, mouseover text don't work in Chrome, What addon or setting do I need to look at?

There are long-standing bugs in Chrome in this area, and apparently not limited to Linux:

Google's not jumping in with fixes (in fact, that's a more general problem, not limited to these particular mouseover bugs). Bug reporting for Google's software is a little bit of a one-way communication.
