Angry How to Replace Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Windows Vista

I threw Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my old PC to see how it runs, and it runs great, but doesn't always boot up. Now I'm trying to install Windows Vista, and even when I select my DVD drive as the boot device, it stalls, then loads Ubuntu. I do have Wine installed, if I need to use it. But how can I reinstall Vista?

You don't need to Wine to install windows. If you properly changed boot option (from which device to boot; cd/dvd drive should be first), then I would say that there is something wrong with your Windows cd (like scratches).

Unfortunately, that is not the case. My PC does this with every other CD that I have.

Then it must your internal CD drive. Try replacing it. They are not that expensive.
    OR
Buy an external CD drive and install windows vista from that.

That sounds like a dvd-rom drive problem.
    They die, it happens.
Look for a replacement, if possible.

Once again, not the issue. Tried it with several drives, and still had the same results. I'll try the old Windows 8 Preview that I just downloaded to see if that will work, even though I can't install it because of my processor.

It worked! Now I'll try the Vista CD again.

Gah. Once again, it booted Ubuntu instead of the CD.

When running Ubuntu, in the Home Folder's left side pane, under "Devices", is the Vista disk listed?
It might say something like Windows, or DVD-ROM, or something, probably with .iso at the end.

If it doesn't show in that list, then it might be bad disk.

You can also look in the drive by opening "disk utility" and going to your cd/dvd device in the left side pane and click it and then look at what the main window shows.
