'Don't break dist-upgrade' is one of my goal, so that's why i always try to be as near as ubuntu developpement as possible.
But ' Make the thread obsolete' is also one of my goal, and that's why you'll not need additional repository under feisty, all will be available in universe.

Hi Givré,
Thank you for all these good instructions... However, I still have a problem when trying to mount my USB disk. I am under Ubuntu 6.10 - the Edgy Eft, amd64 and want to mount a NTFS disk as read/write, so I followed these instructions http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...95#post1647295
but now, I cannot mount my disk anymore.
I tried pmount-hal /dev/sda1:
mount: unknown filesystem type 'ntfs-3g'
Error: could not execute pmount
I am really sorry if someone already asked that, I couldn't find it... I don't understand why ntfs-3g is unknown whereas I guess I am edgy?
Thank you very much
Thanks a lot... and congrats for the how-to, it's easy to follow/understand.
The ntfs-3g works perfectly.

Hi, just wanted to say great guide! worked like a charm for me.
I wanted to suggest that you might want to consider adding to the guide the following:
On step 2 after executing theThe system might show this warning:Code:apt-get upgrade
Do not worry about it and upgrade it. Not ugrading pmount will not allow you to have WRITE access to external drives.Code:WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated! pmount
I didn't do it (freaked out) and couldn't write later on to my external drive. After I upgraded it worked flawlessly
This guide will also help.
