Re: HOWTO: NTFS with read/write support using ntfs-3g (easy method)

I would like to share another positive experience as a extensive ntfs-3g user.

Since 2 weeks now, I'm using ntfs-3g to share same folders both in Windows and Ubuntu, with softwares which read/write a lot : amule and emule. Not any data corruption so far.

3 days ago, I run into an extensive copy-paste experience : more than 50'000 files (from different sizes) where copied from DVDs to a ntfs partition. Again, not a start of beginning of opening of corruption.

What could I say, except thank you Givré ?

    Well, thank you Givré.

Hmm, mabye a double post Psykotik ?
You should remove one of the two you post.

Givré, are you sure you don't want another mirror for repositories ?
    Because the second,
    Code:
    #Givre's repository (ntfs-3g & fuse 2.5.3)
    deb http://flomertens.keo.in/ubuntu/ dapper main
    deb-src http://flomertens.keo.in/ubuntu/ dapper main
is not very accessible all times.

I re-propose to you my web space and bandwith

I think the translation is not perfect, but I hope it's correctly done.
If you have time to check it.

Other french users could go there to have the howto in french.

Some correction made to the translation HowTo, and the more important, there is a change of url !
    new url : http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/systeme/ntfs-3g
The old url (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/ntfs-3g) was no more accessible.

I edited the quoted post in this post.

    Hi guys,

MilesTEG1, there is a problem with my host, one of their serveur is down. It has been discuss there :http://00keoconcept.keogratuit.com/j...p?topic=6784.0 (in frensh). Actually it's not the first time it's happens and it's could be better to stop using it, so your proposition could be a good solution to change this one. pm me for you condition, or email me at the adress you can find in the maintener field of the ntfs-3g package. Thanks

    Hi,
in the recent past, I compil successfully the source on 64bit arch (kernel AMD64, not ix86).
But you need to grab source and compil it yourself.
    Code:
    ./configure
    make
    sudo make install
    And after follow the How-To.

Not sure if a similar problem has been posted yet, but when I attempt to mount the drive /dev/sda1 it say "Cannot mount un tidly shut down windows please shut down properly". I read where it says "Restart in windows", but I no longer have windows on my system and I have no other computers with SATA ports. Can I use a windows boot cd or am I SOL?
