    - a scandisk on the partition run with ntfs-3g in linux discover some error due to the deleted file that needed a reboot to be fix.
    - reboot with scandisk at startup fix the error.
Well, that is a kind of situation that is probably not well tested. I'll mail Szaka soon. Stop me before if i was wrong in the description of your problem.
    Thanks.
    yes:
    switch to windows
    scandisk ntfs-3g disk -> ok

move some file in another disk (a big file and some little file)

remake scan-disk ntfs-3g disk -> impossible complete scan disk

reboot with scandisk at startup fix the error
    no file loses.

For test, when i switch to windows
even i make a scandisk to the ntfs-3g partition
    before and after the use.

Today no problems with the same operations

Ok guy, it's send and already reply
    and here's the reply :
No known problem. Some very-very rare case is still not allowed but they can never result data loss or other problem. Also nobody reported
    similar so far.
It would be important to know what chkdsk said. Windows logs this output
and it can be viewed according to this description:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHKDSK#Viewing_results
could you check that please. Thanks.

And i also learn that there will be a new release soon. Great.

Hey givré, I installed Dapper and WinXP Virtual Machine on VMware under WinXP host and created a seperate 20gig virtual drive to share on both virtual machines. I can't beleive how easy it was to install this driver using your how-to . Now if I can figure out how to fool the VM by thinking a mounted drive is a external USB drive, we can test all we want without breking anything important.

I don't know about the error there, but if you want to extract rar files just use the unrar command (you may need to install it first, it's on the repositories).

Re: HOWTO: NTFS with read/write support using ntfs-3g (easy method)

    Hi guys,
    New release today : ntfs-3g-20070822-BETA
    http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/f...&forum_id=2697
    Hello,

I'm glad to announce an important bugfix release which includes the
    following major changes

    - fix: case-insensitive directory rename to itself failed
    - fix: some regular files weren't accessible on Linux
    - fix: files created on Linux may became inaccessible on Windows
Tip: Files and directory contents created by the older drivers may not have
enough rights to be accessed on Windows, especially if they were moved
around by Windows Explorer. In such cases you could use 'cacls' or 'xcacls'
to set the required permissions, or copy them around with this new driver.
And they again speak of us, thanks to sciyoshi
    New document:

    Ubuntu: ntfs-3g

    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ntfs-3g
Please note, that in our tests this driver functioned so well that simply
can't be true! A few things still must hide somewhere. Please tell us what
    they are
All great news, i have to mention that all my test was also succesfull.
Well, it's already upload, so it's highly recommanded to upgrade.
And as always, report any little problem you can have.

    Thanks

    Hi guy,

Unfrotunatly, this will prbably not work. This driver need the NTFS partition
to be cleanly unmounted (it refuse to mount if so). This could be fix with ntfsfix from the the ntfsprogs package, but for my concern, i nerver test it after an hiberanation.
