No - I can see the Grub menu and both Ubuntu and Windows 7 work fine

Thanks mate! I have no idea what happened - but I'll mark this as solved for now. (EDIT: If I knew how!)

Good idea, it'll help other people when searching.
Not exactly sure what happened myself
    It's fixed though!

I just noticed your topic heading includes the wubi prefix. This isn't a wubi installation is it?

    Re: Windows 7 + Ubuntu 13.04: Windows won't boot

I thought not. It may be an idea to edit that to "Ubuntu" so that people searching will know this thread refers to a dual boot system, not a wubi install.

EDIT if you're not sure how to do that just go to your original post and click on the edit post (bottom right) then when the edit window opens click on "go advanced" and that should then give you the option of changing the wubi prefix to Ubuntu.

    Re: Windows 7 + Ubuntu 13.04: Windows won't boot

My problem was almost the same. New laptop, dual-boot (Windows7 - Ubuntu12.04), ubuntu boots perfectly but Windows 7 is stuck in the Purple screen after I select it in grub! I tried everything you were talking about, but nothing seems to fix the problem permantly! The odd think that windows were starting normally I could hear all the sounds, and I could turn off the laptop normally from the keyboard "blindly" (Windows Button -> Right Arrow -> Enter ). Startup repair from windows CD did help but only the first time I booted my computer, windows were entering like a charm and in the second time the purple screen of death was back and I had to repeat the procedure with the startup repair.

Anyway to make a long story short, After a lot of reading and guessing I was starting to thing that the resolution of grub was messing something up. I did some testing and finally set it to the lowest most common 640x480. And that did the trick! A week of frustration but finally is working! I provide a link how to do it.

I don't know if it's related to this problem, but the initial problem were the same. So I though I would write my story in this thread in case someone in the future has the same problem !
Guys I really thank you best wishes!
