    Re: Login Loop

Next thing to check is if you have too many older kernels installed. Please post the output of -
    Code:
    dpkg -l | grep linux-image
We can (and should) delete all but the two latest kernels.

    Re: Login Loop

I forgot how to make the line after -1. Or is that -l lowercase L?

    Re: Login Loop

It is a lowercase "L" in "dpkg -l", then pipe symbol "|" between "dpkg -l" and "grep...".

The pipe symbol (|) is on the same key as the backspace (\) on my US-104 style keyboard, and is located above the "Enter" an below the "Backspace" key. (is also located in the left of the backspace key in some keyboards).

I have downloaded the Puppy Linux and made a CD. Do you wish to proceed with the CD or as we are currently?

Hmm.. odd! I would have expected it to be "linux-image-3.2.0-51-generic". Looks like you are booted in an older kernel for some reason.

Anyway, there is still a lot of garbage you can safely remove. You can purge all the "2.6..." versions with "sudo apt-get purge" command. Precisely (based on your output) -
    Code:
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.28-15-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.28-16-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-14-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-16-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-19-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-20-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-21-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.31-22-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-25-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-26-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-27-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-28-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-29-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-30-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-31-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-32-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-33-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-34-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-35-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-36-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-37-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-38-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-39-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-40-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-41-generic
    sudo apt-get purge linux-image-2.6.32-42-generic
This should give you a lot more than sufficient space to boot normally. Then we can figure out why you are not booted into the latest installed kernel (not necessary, but a mystery for me nevertheless, unless you have intentionally chosen to boot into an older one).
