should i do it (install linux mint)

iv been wanting to do this for a long time dual boot win7 with Linux mint kde just have a feeling ill mess it up
do u think i should do it



im gonna use a live USB witch i don't now what button i press to boot into it on my hp notebook 2000

but i tether and cant install client before i install mint so i wont have internet untill after install
could i install the updates after
or should i wait and got to the library and install with there WiFi
but that might be a week form now

If you was to ask this on the Linux Mint forum, the answer would be, Yes. But you are asking this on a Ubuntu forum and it looks like I am the first to get a reply in. My answer is, No. Install Ubuntu!

The truth is, it is your choice. You are free to install whatever Linux distribution you like. I have never installed Linux Mint so I do not know if it is possible to install without an internet connection. But we can do it with Ubuntu and the flavours of Ubuntu. We are asked to tick a box confirming that we want the OS updated as part of the install process. Leave that blank and Ubuntu should install without an internet connection.

There really is no point to installing LM KDE. Might as well be Kubuntu since Mint and Ubuntu share the same core. You should only install Mint if you want the Cinnamon or Mate desktop. Any other desktop you might as well use Ubuntu as Ubuntu will have the same packages as Mint for every other desktop except Cinnamon and Mate. Ubuntu doe have Cinnamon in it's repos btw, but it's not configured the same as on Mint.

well it took me like 2 hours to torrent it so im still gonna install it i just change the desktop to mate since cinnamon is.. meh
but i just want to try it i could have went with chakra i still might if u think its a better idea

Depends. For me sound behaved wrong on Mint 15 XFCE but behaves and works properly with Lubuntu 13.04. That's why I say try out live cd's, usb sticks, whatever first and test some things.
