Likely there will be a patch to plug that security breach within a few days. It would be hard to sell an exploit software that would be patched out before the buyer of said exploit could use it. That's likely why no such markets exist for Linux exploits. Microsoft, on the other hand, takes a very long time to patch the sieve that is Windows. It doesn't help that many Windows endusers don't know how to keep their systems patched - if a patch for it exists... Thus, the flourishing global market for vendors of Windows exploits.

You know? It could be a proof of concept. To see how far it would spread before anyone in the GNU/Linux community spotted it, and how quickly it is patched... Maybe they want to test the waters, to see if a viable "business" could be made from exploiting Linux vulnerabilities?

/sigh A trojan is not not a virus.

On topic:
The article is useless because it doesn't really provide any details. I suspect the whole thing is written in an interpreted language (such as Java, Python or HTML5) and thus may work anywhere where an appropriate interpreter is available. If so, calling it "Linux malware" is misleading at best.
