Re: Wayland vs. Mir causing fragmentation??
Programs are not compiled against X, Mir or Wayland.
Programs are compiled against GUI toolkits like GTK and QT. The toolkits handle the task of communicating with the window manager and the display server. As long as the toolkits support all three display servers, and you are running an appropriate window manager, everything will be interoperable.
Games don't use toolkits, but they do use LibSDL. As long as LibSDL supports Mir, Wayland and X everything will be interoperable.
I think this thread will get sent to Recurring very shortly.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
