Upgrade to 13 and no nvidia drivers for hdmi audio

    Hi

I have just upgrade to ubuntu 13 from ubuntu 12.04. In 12.04 and every other version of ubuntu i have tried over the past number of years i am propmted to install nvidia drivers after a fresh install. 13 was different and i wasn't prompted, When i opened software and updates and looked in the additional drivers tab there was nothing listed. I have checked for solutions but couldn't find any. I don't require the drivers for gaming but so i can set the audio to use hdmi.

My pc is rather old and i have a geforce 5700 card in it

    thanks

You did not do a fresh install, did you? So, the upgrade accepted the system as it was and upgraded accordingly. Did the Additional Drivers tab say: searching for available drivers? Did you wait long enough? On my system I have a choice of 4 Nvidia drivers. It may be that the Nvidia drivers for your card have been depreciated or are no longer supported.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.
