    dmg2img converts a huge file

I've got a dmg that I'd like to burn so I converted it to img using dmg2img and it works fine. The problem is the origional dmg file is 4GB, the newly created img is over 14GB, am I doing something wrong or should I be going about this another way?

A dmg file is a compressed OS X file that contains the folders and directories of a Mac program. The image file is the uncompressed disk-mountable ISO file--like what you would find on a CD or DVD. Typically the dmg is uncompressed into an image file (on the hard drive) that is then mounted and accessable on the desktop.

What specifically are you trying to do?

Where did the dmg file come from?

Why do you need to convert it to an img file?

Why am I asking so many questions?
