Top bar missing from all apps

I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but I'm now missing the top bar (the one with the "close", "minimize" and "full screen" buttons) in all of my applications.

    My version is 12.04.

    Any ideas?

PS: I don't remember marking this thread as solved (twilight zone?)

Run your mouse up to the top panel of the desktop and those options will appear.
This is the global menu feature of the Unity desktop.

    Thanks for the reply.
Its not the menu bar I was missing. It was the top part of the window where the "close", "minimize" and "full screen" buttons are and where you can grab the window and move it around.

Anyway, after restarting the problem was gone - Good old doctor Reboot

If you click on the square in the top right menu of an application window - it maximizes or minimizes that window. If you are in maximize mode, global menu is in affect and you cannot resize your application window. Clicking on the square will get you out of maximize and to the sub-menu for resizing and moving your application window.
