How do you close your own thread?

Sometimes I find that I'm no longer happy with the way my question was worded, that after time (>24 hours but <48) to think about it I could get better answers by asking from a different angle. So, is there a way that I can end an already dead thread so that I can ask a different question, without being accused of double-posting because it addresses the same problem?

Moved to Forum Feedback & Help.

Use the 'Report Post' button to ask staff to either edit or move or close your thread.

Report my own post? I didn't break any rules! What's so wrong about allowing the OP the "Close Thread" button for his own thread? I don't want you to answer that question, I want you to THINK about it - and I really don't mind if you close this thread!

Yes, report your own post. Where is it written that reported posts have broken rules? What's so wrong about having staff close the thread? Staff can also move the thread to a different forum, edit the title, or remove it from view (moving it to a holding area called The Jail - bet that'd REALLY raise some questions).

If reporting your own post bothers you, marking your thread as solved is an alternative to closing.

You can also edit your original post, to add more info, or reword the question.

No one's suggesting you did, reporting your own post is simply a way to contact staff with your request.
