    Epson Printer question

    Hello,

I'm new to Ubuntu (12.04lts) and I'm trying to get an Epson printer (model wp-4530) to work. The printer is plugged into the computer via a usb cable. Ive downloaded a few drivers from Epson's site but I'm not sure how to use (run?) them. They are just a bunch of files on my desktop. From the Epson site, I get all these choices:

    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.2.3-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm 1.47 MB
    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.3-1lsb3.2_i386.deb 1.77 MB
    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.2.3-1lsb3.2.x86_64.rpm 1.46 MB
    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.3-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb 1.77 MB
    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.2.3-1lsb3.2.src.rpm 1.41 MB
    epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.2.3-1lsb3.2.tar.gz 1.48 MB

And frankly have no idea which one to choose. I'm running 64 bit ubuntu.

I would sincerely appreciate anyones comment on this problem, I've checked the other epson forums and can't seem to find a solution.

Thank you very much in advance,

    mack

    Re: Epson Printer question

Just double click on epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.2.3-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb. Then select install package.
Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading, partitioning, or installing an OS.

    Re: Epson Printer question

For future reference, Ubuntu/Debian uses .deb files. amd64 is for 64-bit systems. So you needed to use the bla_bla_amd64.deb file.
