    CAD Software

I'm going to need a laptop for college next year and I want to know if there is a good CAD program for Ubuntu or if I'm going to have to buy a Windows computer...another option would be to use WINE, but does anybody know how well something like AutoCAD would run under WINE?

Well, the Software Repository for Ubuntu does have CAD programs. I don't know how good/bad they are, but I do believe that there are a few.

You can run various versions of Autocad under WINE but have a look at Draftsight (google it). The 2D version is free, generates .dwg files and is very similar to Autocad. I tried a few programmes from the repositories but I found the learning process too hard for a rusted-on Autocad user.
