How to get 'Weather Indicator' to work with 12.04

I can get the icon to appear at the top of the screen but it doesn't show the temperature.

It is set for Benbrook Fort Worth TX

Is this a common problem with this app ?

    TIA
    Lewis.

I had to start the application in dash prior to the indicator appearing on the panel as I remember. I am now using a different application and can't test without installing.

    L Campbell;
At the time I installed the weather ap on 12.04, google no longer supported the application, and caused my 12.04 to crash, I understand that yahoo does maintain some support for it and mechanisms are inplace to switch from the default google to Yahoo.

Will the xubuntu/xfce weather app work on Unity? ( if you are using Unity )

    http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/pan...weather-plugin

It shows temperature, weather, will show forecasts.

did you install it from Software Center??

did you open it in Dash???

did you get a set-up screen asking you to select
    a data source???

I installed it from SC & it worked straight away...it seems
to get all info from Yahoo that matches my yahoo home page...

Same problem here on 12.10 x64. This seems to be a garbage app. It opens, then can't save preferences or locations.

It works on 12:10 32 bit. But does crash regularly.

The forecast bit says "Forecast information cannot be fetched. Connection cannot be established".

It used to work fine in 11:10

the weather app, works fine in 12.04.1 LTS Edition, for 64 bit. The only problem, is as previously mentioned, that google won't work, so you have to change to Yahoo as default.

I haven't had a crash, I've had to set weather location to the airport, and not my residential district, but I've named it my residential area.

No weather alerts, and other bits, I assume, yahoo doesn't provide them.

I have it loaded at start up, command is start weather applet from memory, away from computer.

    I'm using Conky.
Teo has written a cool script to make weather show in Conky

Yeah but using that would mean having that spattered over the desktop
