    Still receiving updates on Lucid

    Hi

    I'm using 10.04 Lucid desktop kernel 2.6.32-48-generic
    and set Software Sources as:
    UBUNTU SOFTWARE (main server)
    Canonical-supported open source main
    Community-maintained Universe
    OTHER SOFTWARE
    http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu
    UPDATES:
    Lucid security
    Lucid Updates

I'm aware of the end of life date (May 9th 2013) for Lucid.

Today June 15th I was offerd security (kernel) updates by my update manager.
Going from kernel 2.6.32-47 to 48
I did not expect any updates for this release anymore.
Does anybody know why I still get them?

    Thnx

The server version is supported till 2015, so you'll still get security updates to the packages that are included in that till then.

(maybe off topic) Would this create additional security risks if I keep using this release until 2015?

I would say yes, as you will receive no updates or security patches for any of the desktop packages.

That would make my system 'a castle made of sand' . (JH >>Good)
Well I will give Pangolin a second chance.

There isn't a "solved" button at the moment. Instructions for marking a thread "solved" are here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...0#post12536730

Spare your nerves and do one before you upgrade or install.

You don't have to use Unity; other desktop environments are available & easy to install.

I know. I tried the, was it fallback named? at least that was the way I was going. Anyway, I got stuck somewhere getting compiz working. My notebook is using a Intel GM965/GL960 IGC and as i remember correctly it was black listed in Lucid
But at the end I got it al running (on lucid). A lot of hassle for me. On Pangolin I didn't manage to get it working. But I must say, didn't put to much effort in it. Not to mention the available time. On top of that I couldn't find the ./compiz-check anywhere on the net. Lucky as i was I found it on a old HD I plugged in somewhat later
Long story short I stopped trying
Needless to say that security is more important the eye-candy
