Inspiron 17R SE (7720) questions on compatibility

I'm close to pulling the trigger on grabbing this, but I've just a few questions about compatibility:

    1. Does HDMI audio out work using the integrated HD 4000?
    2. Do the function keys work for screen brightness, volume, etc?
    3. Does the trackpad allow for edge-scrolling? (Also, I heard the scrolling area is offset from the edge of the pad?)
    4. Does middle-clicking register when pressing both mouse buttons at the same time?

This would make me giddy like a school girl if these things work out. Thanks ahead of time.

I've also been looking at this or a similar Dell laptop. Did you buy one?

If you did then the questions that I now have for you are:

    1. Did you completely remove Windows or did you leave it installed?
    2. Did you experience any problems installing Ubuntu?
    3. What answers can you now give to the questions that you raised?

    Thanks.

I've got an Inspiron 17r se running with Ubuntu, during the installation there were no problems, you just have to disable the UEFI secure Boot and use the Legacy Bootmode. If you want to use Windows and Ubuntu you will have to do the partitions manually. To boot into Windows 8, just press while the Dell Logo is on the screen F12 and choose the Windowsbootmanager. The function-keys are working well, to use the trackpad with gestures or the nvidiagraphics, you will have to install the drivers.
