    13.04 plasma-desktop crashing

I'm running Kubuntu 13.04. I've been having a lot of problems with plasma-desktop crashing, especially on startup. It hasn't been catastrophic so far, because it comes right back up and doesn't affect other programs, but it's a major nuisance.

So, I did a little research, and it looks like this is a problem caused by Qt 4.8.4, which was supposed to have been fixed in 4.8.5. But which version of Qt do I have? I ran
    Code:
    kde4-config -v
and found that I was still running 4.8.4...but according to Wikipedia, the latest Stable Release is 5.0.2! Is the version of Qt in Raring Ringtail ~1 year old? And if so, why?

What hardware do you have - Integrated or plug-in video? Nvidia, Intel, ?

By "plug-in" you mean it's on a card? It's an ATI Radeon.

I also did the same investigation and got this:

    kde4-config -v
    Qt: 4.8.4
    KDE Development Platform: 4.10.4
    kde4-config: 1.0

So yes, Kubuntu 13.04 still uses Qt 4.8.4

Man, that's frustrating. I wonder if I should try installing Qt 4.8.5 on my own? Or if I should complain to the Kubuntu devs?
I don't want to risk breaking anything further...
