So what's the most detailed and exhaustive encyclopedia?

Looking for the most detailed and exhaustive encyclopedia on the net (membership should be cheap), that covers everything as much as possible to know about a topic, on subjects related to science, medicine, religion, etc. Anyone know of good heavy encyclopedias?

    Good sensible question.

Something a tutor on a course I was on a couple of years ago pointed out is that some online encyclopedias are better than others. This might seem obvious, but the quality of information can vary a lot, particularly since almost anyone can set themselves up as an expert these days.
