Are there someway to transfer a complete copy of my OS to a different computer?

My old thinkpad is on its last breaths and as I spent a lot of time configuring my OS I wonder if there is a OSX-time-machine-like-software for Ubuntu which will let me migrate my whole system (all its software, configs etc) to a new computer?
