Screensaver not activating, can't enter password on lockscreen.

When I press Ctrl-Alt-L, the screen locks, but the screensaver
doesn't activate. I also cannot enter my password on the lockscreen.
It just shows a blank entry field without a cursor.

I can however click on "unlock", which does nothing because I can't
enter my password, or I can click "switch user", which brings me to
the login screen and then I can login that way.

This is very annoying though, because of the extra step and also because
of the blank screen (screensaver) not working.

I have tried out the latest cinnamon desktop lately, which uninstalled
gnome-screensaver. I reinstalled that after deleting cinnamon though,
    but it still doesn't work.

I was having the same issue on a fresh install of 13.04, it was working fine up until a few days ago and the only major change I made that coincidence with this was installing Teamviewer. Even when using it to connect to the PC remotely I wasn't able to type the password in and would have to use switch user to log in, I stopped teamviewer running and the issue has disappeared for now.
